Woywoy Escape Tabo is a place to stay in the Ubud area of Bali, where peace and privacy are the main attractions. Gogo Bali Cocktails Bar & Karaoke

In Ubud, Gogo Bali is a laid-back karaoke bar where people come to sing, have a few drinks and enjoy an easygoing night out. It's nothing like a fancy nightclub: songs follow one another, groups mingle, and it's easy to end up staying much longer than planned.

Sangeh Monkey Forest

Located in Sangeh village, around 30 minutes from Ubud depending on traffic, this forest is home to hundreds of free-roaming macaques among towering trees. It also contains the Hindu Pura Bukit Sari temple, built in the 17th century and still used for religious ceremonies. We chose it over Ubud’s famous Sacred Monkey Forest for its more authentic feel and the staff’s guidance during encounters with the monkeys.

Dolphin swimming at Lovina Beach

On Bali’s north coast, Lovina Beach is known for boat trips to see wild dolphins. Tours generally leave very early, around 6 a.m., when the chances of spotting them are particularly good. It’s a rather unusual way to discover these animals in their natural habitat.

A path takes you past the paddies, with plenty of opportunities for photos and glimpses of everyday local life. Allow around 20 to 30 minutes for a relaxed return walk. Entry is free, although you can leave a voluntary donation.

Ubud: temples, rice fields, and Balinese culture

After Sumatra and Java, we spent two weeks in Bali with a simple desire: to slow down, rest a little and prepare for the rest of our trip. We chose to base ourselves in Ubud, an excellent base for exploring the center of the island while enjoying a relatively calm atmosphere. We were lucky enough to be present during the celebrations of Galungan and…
