After several weeks travelling around Indonesia, we returned to Bali one last time. Five days between Uluwatu and Seminyak, without trying to fill the days, just to enjoy the island a little longer before turning the page. Uluwatu is known for its immense cliffs, its wild beaches and its very surfing atmosphere. We took the scooter and spent several days…
It was in Labuan Bajo, a small port town on the island of Flores and gateway to the Komodo National Park, that our adventure continued. We started with a three-day liveaboard to explore the park along the water. From the first evening, the spectacle was already incredible: at sunset, thousands of bats left the mangroves to take flight. Seeing all these…
Head to Kuta Lombok, a surfer’s paradise. Ever since we started travelling to Indonesia, we kept hearing his name come up. It's impossible not to want to go and see for ourselves if the reputation was deserved. During our stay, we had the opportunity to do two surf sessions, both accompanied by local surf instructors. And here, there is no question of…
Certain stages of a trip are carefully prepared. Others arise from a simple misunderstanding. It all started during a karaoke evening in Bali. Between two songs and a few drinks, an Englishwoman enthusiastically tells us that she has just spent several days in Gili Meno... and that she has even extended her stay three times. For her, there is no doubt: if…
We spent three days on Nusa Penida with a fairly clear program from the start: to meet manta rays and discover two of the most iconic beaches in Bali. From the first half-day, we went out to sea for an outing dedicated to diving with mantas at Manta Point. And there, a truly incredible experience: several enormous manta rays glided around us with almost…
After Sumatra and Java, we spent two weeks in Bali with a simple desire: to slow down, rest a little and prepare for the rest of our trip. We chose to base ourselves in Ubud, an excellent base for exploring the center of the island while enjoying a relatively calm atmosphere. We were lucky enough to be present during the celebrations of Galungan and…
After a few days in Yogyakarta, we took a six-hour train ride to Malang, through the landscapes of Java. Malang was only a short stop, but we had time to see its famous blue houses. Their color is not insignificant: it echoes the local football club, whose supporters have gradually painted the neighborhood to show their support. A simple anecdote but which…
After our adventure in Sumatra, it was time to change islands and head to Java. Direction Yogyakarta, one of the best-known cities in the country, which would offer us a particularly welcome return to civilization... with our first hot shower in a while! The objective of this stage was simple: slow down the pace and enjoy a few quieter days. We started by…
After several weeks spent between heavenly beaches, comfortable hotels and tropical islands, our arrival in Bukit Lawang marked a real change of atmosphere. Located in northern Sumatra, this small village is best known for being one of the gateways to Gunung Leuser National Park, one of only two places in the world where it is still possible to observe…
Some of our best evenings in Ubud were at Gogo Bali Cocktails Bar & Karaoke. It is not luxurious or especially trendy, and that is exactly what makes it so charming. The atmosphere is brilliant, the bartenders are lovely, and everyone feels comfortable almost instantly.
If there is one beach not to be missed in Nusa Penida, it is Kelingking Beach. Between its dizzying cliffs, its golden sand and its turquoise water, the scenery is simply spectacular. Despite the presence of the unfinished elevator structure on the cliff, which distorts the landscape a little, the beauty of the place remains absolutely striking once there.
We recommend going there late in the afternoon, ideally for sunset. The light becomes magnificent on the cliffs and the crowds decrease considerably, which makes the experience much more pleasant.
If you want to go to the beach, bring good shoes. The descent is steep, physical and sometimes slippery, as is the climb back up. It requires some effort, but remains accessible to most people in good physical condition. And it is precisely this difficulty which limits the number of visitors on the beach, allowing you to enjoy a much calmer atmosphere than at the viewpoint located at the top.
Once down, the setting is exceptional. Even though swimming is not always allowed depending on sea conditions, we were lucky enough to be able to get in the water and enjoy the waves.
For us, Kelingking Beach is one of the most beautiful places in Nusa Penida and an experience we would definitely recommend.

If you’re looking for a quiet place with privacy, we can really recommend this hotel. We loved having so much space, enjoying the pool and the hot tub, and waking up to the view of the rice fields and the little forest right across the way. Breakfast was also very good, and the overall atmosphere really invites you to relax.
As is the case in much of Indonesia, the hotel doesn’t specifically market itself as LGBT-friendly. That said, thanks to the layout of the property and the privacy it offers, we felt comfortable and right at home in our little cocoon, without ever being disturbed. In short, it’s a peaceful place where you feel at ease from the moment you arrive.
