The place at a glance
Located in the north of Koh Rong, Lonely Beach is a secluded stretch of sand lined with palm trees and tropical forest. With its white sand, turquoise water and a handful of discreet places to stay, it really lives up to its name. Far from the island's busier beaches, it's a lovely place to enjoy the sea and some peace and quiet.
What we loved
For us, it's simply the most beautiful beach on Koh Rong! We discovered it while exploring the island by scooter and loved it straight away. Turquoise water, exceptionally clean white sand and palm trees as far as the eye can see. But what we enjoyed most was how nearly deserted it was when we visited. We spent hours swimming and soaking up the peace, feeling as though we had a little corner of paradise all to ourselves.
Our tip
From Long Set Beach, allow around 30 to 40 minutes by scooter, depending on the road conditions. Be careful: the last few kilometres are genuinely tricky, with sand, rocks and mud, especially after rain. You can also take a tuk-tuk towards Lonely Beach, but you'll need to walk the final stretch because tuk-tuks can't reach the beach itself. Either way, it's well worth the trip! Also, protect yourself from sandflies: these tiny biting insects left us with a few souvenirs of our stay on Koh Rong.
