The place at a glance

Kayangan Lake is one of the best-known stops on island-hopping tours around Coron. To reach the lake, you climb a staircase through the limestone formations. Along the way, there’s a famous viewpoint overlooking the bay where the boats dock, with dramatic cliffs and water in different shades of blue and green.

What we loved

To be honest, the lake itself didn’t particularly impress us. What we remember most from up there is the huge Asian water monitor we spotted near the water! We found the bay where the boats arrive much more spectacular. Between the cliffs, the different colours of the water and the little coves, the scenery is genuinely beautiful. We were even lucky enough to see a ray swimming through the crystal-clear water!

Our tip

We’d recommend saving some time to explore the bay rather than focusing only on the lake. There are spots for snorkelling, and you can also explore the surroundings by kayak. Ask your guide whether you can rent one directly there, so you don’t have to hire a kayak for the entire tour.
