The place at a glance
In Taipei, much of the gay nightlife gathers behind the historic Red House building in Ximending. Several LGBTQ+ bars have neighboring outdoor terraces, creating a lively open-air drinking area. It’s a great place for drinks before heading to a nightclub.
What we loved
We loved moving between bars and discovering their different atmospheres. Although they are clustered together, each has its own personality and regulars. The busy terraces make it easy to meet people, and we had wonderful evenings here before going dancing. Our nights out in Taipei remain some of our favorite travel memories.
Our tip
Before ordering, compare each bar’s happy hours and special offers: they vary from venue to venue and can be worthwhile. Our tip is to try several places instead of staying in the same bar all evening.
