Ximending
LGBTQ+ friendly
A welcoming place open to LGBTQ+ people.
The place in a few words
Ximending is one of Taipei's liveliest neighborhoods, known for its pedestrian streets, bright signs and energetic atmosphere. Between the shops, street food stalls, bars and street performances, there's always something to discover. It's also home to Red House, one of Taipei's main LGBTQ+ gathering spots.
What we loved
For our first stay in Taipei, we chose to stay in Ximending, and we absolutely loved the neighborhood. What we especially appreciated was how close it was to the city's gay nightlife. Between the bars around Red House, CÔSMÀ and the various nightclubs, many of the places we wanted to go out to were within walking distance. Beyond the nightlife, we loved wandering for hours, returning to familiar streets and still discovering something new each time.
Our tip
If it's your first time in Taipei, Ximending is a great place to stay. You'll find a lively atmosphere right outside your hotel, with easy access to the rest of the city via Ximen MRT station. We'd also recommend coming back at different times during your stay, especially in the evening when the streets take on a completely different feel.
