The place in a few words
About fifteen minutes from central El Nido, Las Cabañas Beach, also known as Marimegmeg Beach, is a palm-lined beach overlooking the rocky islets of Bacuit Bay. Easily reached by scooter or tricycle, it's particularly popular for its sunsets. Several beachfront cafés, bars and restaurants make it easy to spend the afternoon here and enjoy a drink by the sea.
What we loved
We immediately liked how clean the beach was, its laid-back atmosphere and all the little places to stop for food or a drink. But what really stayed with us was the sunset. No exaggeration: we witnessed one of the most beautiful sunsets of our lives! The colours in the sky, the silhouettes of the islands on the horizon and the reflections on the water were absolutely incredible. It's one of those travel moments we'll never forget.
Our tip
We really recommend coming in the late afternoon, ideally at least an hour before sunset. That gives you time to stroll along the beach, find a nice spot and enjoy the view without rushing. Walk towards the far end of Las Cabañas for a more open view of the bay. It's a popular sunset spot, so don't leave your arrival until the last minute.
