The place in a few words

In Phnom Penh, several companies offer late-afternoon cruises along the Mekong and Tonlé Sap rivers, giving you a different view of Cambodia’s capital from the water. Trips generally last between one and two hours, depending on the package. Some are straightforward sightseeing cruises, while others include unlimited drinks or a meal on board.

What we loved

We really enjoyed this experience in Phnom Penh! We chose a simple cruise without a meal, and that was more than enough for us. Along the way, we watched the sky change colour, boats pass by and the city lights gradually come on. A special mention goes to the illuminated Royal Palace, which looks particularly beautiful from the river. It was a completely different way to see Phnom Penh, and we really appreciated the experience.

Our tip

We'd definitely recommend choosing a sunset cruise so you can see the city in daylight and after dark. Compare prices online before booking: we paid around US$7 per person on Klook, compared with US$15 offered on the spot! You don't need to book a meal package to enjoy it either. The cruise itself is well worth it.
