The place in a few words
Khmer Women' Food is a small, family-style restaurant on a quiet street in Phnom Penh, serving generous portions of traditional Khmer food cooked to order. There's nothing fancy about it: the appeal lies in its homemade dishes, local flavours and the warm welcome from the women who run the place.
What we loved
This was the very first restaurant we tried in Cambodia, and what an introduction! We discovered lok lak, fish amok and lort cha, three absolutely delicious local dishes. The portions were generous, the food had that lovely home-cooked feel, and the women who welcomed us were incredibly kind. Maybe our excitement about trying a new cuisine played a part. But even after travelling around Cambodia, we still agree: this was our favourite meal of the whole trip!
Our tip
Try something you wouldn't usually order — you might be pleasantly surprised! Don't hesitate to ask the women running the restaurant what they recommend. That's exactly what we did, and we weren't disappointed at all. It's a lovely way to discover Cambodian food without knowing quite what to expect!
