The place at a glance
On the banks of the Tonlé Sap, Sisowath Riverside Park is a long riverside promenade near Phnom Penh's Royal Palace. You'll find people out for a stroll, street vendors and plenty of places to grab a bite or a drink. On weekends, part of the waterfront becomes Chaktomuk Walk Street, a lively pedestrian area filled with food stalls and entertainment.
What we loved
We walked along the waterfront several times and really enjoyed the atmosphere, both during the day and in the evening. When we visited on the weekend, we came across a huge market with an impressive number of street-food stalls. There were people everywhere, plenty of local dishes to try and a really friendly atmosphere. We loved simply wandering around, watching everyday life and soaking up all the activity by the water.
Our tip
If you're in Phnom Penh over the weekend, we really recommend coming here in the evening! Chaktomuk Walk Street is generally pedestrian-only on Saturdays and Sundays from 6 pm to 11 pm. Come hungry so you can try a few dishes from the stalls. Even on weekdays, the promenade is worth a visit to explore the waterfront and enjoy the city's atmosphere.
