The place at a glance
Siem Reap does not have a clearly defined gay district. However, around Pub Street and the Old Market, several LGBTQ+ bars are within walking distance of each other. These include Barcode and GOD, known for their lively nights and drag performances.
What we loved
We absolutely fell for these nights out! The drag shows, especially at Barcode, impressed us with their energy and quality. But what stays with us most is the open, welcoming atmosphere: we chatted, laughed and met locals, expats and fellow travelers. We hadn’t expected to find such an endearing gay scene in Siem Reap.
Our tip
Don't stick to just one place! Start your evening by the river, where plenty of small terraces are perfect for a few drinks in a relaxed atmosphere at very reasonable prices. Then head to one of the gay bars in the centre for a drag show. And when the night gets going, the bars turn into little dance floors where locals, expats and travellers all end up dancing together!
