Cycling through the rice fields of Hoi An

Activities

General venue

A recommended place without a particular LGBTQ+ positioning.

The place in a few words

Just a short bike ride from Hoi An’s historic centre, the scenery changes completely. Busy streets give way to rice fields and narrow paths, where you might pass locals on scooters, farmers at work and the occasional buffalo. Around Cam Chau and Cam Thanh, a few cafés offer a lovely spot to stop and look out over the fields.

What we loved

It’s such a simple outing, but exactly what we needed after the bustle of central Hoi An. We hopped on our bikes, wandered wherever we felt like going and stopped now and then for photos or a coffee. No strict itinerary needed: we just enjoyed the scenery and discovered a much more rural side of Hoi An.

Our tip

Many places to stay lend bikes or rent them out, so make the most of it! We suggest heading out later in the afternoon to avoid the hottest hours. Allow two to three hours, including a coffee stop. You can also cycle on to the Duck Stop, a fun little activity we reached by bike too. Bear in mind that the fields aren’t always bright green: their appearance changes with the growing and harvest seasons.
