Tanjung Aan Beach

Tanjung Aan Beach

Less open context

A place we recommend in a context where some discretion may feel preferable. This does not mean the venue is discriminatory.

The place in a few words

About fifteen minutes from Kuta, Tanjung Aan is one of southern Lombok's best-known beaches. Its two sweeping bays, white sand and turquoise water make it an inviting place to unwind. Small beach bars offer loungers, fresh coconuts and simple meals. It's an easy spot to spend a few hours with your feet in the sand and absolutely nothing on the agenda.

What we loved

We mostly wanted to do nothing, and that was exactly what we needed! We thought the beach was really pretty, even though there was some litter in places. We loved being able to settle in, soak up the sun and order a drink without spending much. You don't always need an amazing activity to enjoy yourself: sometimes a lovely beach, a lounger and a few lazy hours are more than enough for us.

Our tip

Set aside half a day to enjoy Tanjung Aan at your own pace. It's easy to reach by scooter from Kuta. If you feel like being more active, you can surf nearby, but the breaks around Tanjung Aan are generally offshore and require a boat. For beginner-friendly surfing straight from the beach, we'd suggest Selong Belanak instead.
