General venue
A recommended place without a particular LGBTQ+ positioning.
The place in a few words
Located in the heart of Kaohsiung, Sanfong Temple is a Taoist temple known for the hundreds of red lanterns hanging above its courtyard. Its traditional architecture and intricate decorations make it a particularly photogenic place.
What we loved
We visited plenty of temples during our trip to Taiwan, but this one really stood out. After dark, the lanterns light up and create a truly special atmosphere. The contrast between the red glow and the temple’s architecture is beautiful!
Our tip
We recommend visiting after sunset and heading up to the upper floors to see the courtyard from a different angle. It’s also a great spot for photos.
