The place in a few words

Located on the northwestern coast of Gran Canaria, the natural pools of Punta de Gáldar offer a lovely setting for a swim in the Atlantic Ocean among volcanic rocks. They're a pleasant stop to cool off and enjoy the coastline, especially during a road trip through this part of the island.

What we loved

We really liked these natural pools, perfect for a quick dip and taking in the volcanic scenery. This part of Gran Canaria is especially enjoyable to explore by car, with small natural pools, coastal villages and lighthouses dotted along the shoreline.

Our tip

We wouldn't necessarily make a special trip just for these pools, as you probably won't spend hours here. But if you're exploring Gran Canaria's northern coast, we'd recommend adding this stop to your route. Check the local weather before setting off: this part of the island is often windier and cloudier than the south, and conditions can vary dramatically from one area to another. Also check the sea conditions before swimming, as the waves can be powerful.
