The place in a few words

An icon of Barcelona, the Sagrada Família is a basilica designed by Antoni Gaudí, with construction beginning in 1882. Its intricately sculpted façades depict biblical scenes, while inside, tree-like columns and colourful stained-glass windows create spectacular effects of light. A truly distinctive architectural landmark that continues to evolve more than a century after construction began.

What we loved

We've been to Barcelona more times than we can count, yet we never resist stopping by the Sagrada Família. It's become our little ritual: spotting what's changed since our last visit. Since Gaudí passed away long before the building was finished, the basilica continues to evolve, and we always find it fun to discover the latest additions. But what impresses us most is the interior, with its incredible proportions, colourful stained glass and architectural details we never get tired of admiring.

Our tip

Don't just admire it from the outside! Going inside is absolutely worth it to appreciate Gaudí's creativity and attention to detail. Make sure to book your ticket several weeks in advance, especially during peak season, as time slots fill up quickly. Entry is at a fixed time, so don't arrive late.
