Philippine Tarsier Sanctuary
General venue
A recommended place without a particular LGBTQ+ positioning.
The place in a few words
Located in Corella on the island of Bohol, the Philippine Tarsier Sanctuary offers a chance to observe one of the world's smallest primates in its natural habitat. With their huge eyes and tiny bodies, tarsiers are as fascinating as they are fragile. A guide accompanies visitors along a short forest trail and helps spot them among the branches. The sanctuary is run by a foundation dedicated to protecting them.
What we loved
We chose this sanctuary over another one on the island because its setting looked more natural and appealing to us. And we didn't regret it! There were very few visitors when we went, making the experience especially peaceful. What impressed us most was seeing these tiny animals from so close, sometimes just a few dozen centimetres away. Our only slight disappointment was that our guide didn't really share much additional information about the tarsiers. We would have loved to learn more.
Our tip
For exploring inland Bohol, renting a scooter is our favourite option! We'd suggest combining your sanctuary visit with a trip to the Chocolate Hills. That's exactly what we did, and although it made for a full day, we loved discovering this part of the island at our own pace, with the freedom to stop whenever we felt like it.
