The place in a few words
Located on the Akrotiri peninsula near Chania in Crete, Paralia Macherida is a small naturist cove surrounded by rocks, with beautifully clear turquoise water. Popular with naturists and the LGBTQ+ community, it has a relaxed atmosphere away from large, organised beaches. The beach is small, with a few sandy and rocky spots to settle down.
What we loved
We really loved the intimate feel of this little beach. Even though space is limited, there are little spots among the rocks to lay down a towel and enjoy the sea. The naturist atmosphere makes everything feel especially relaxed and easygoing. It’s exactly the kind of little cove where we enjoy spending a few hours doing absolutely nothing.
Our tip
You can park along the road, then walk for 5 to 10 minutes down a short rocky path to reach the beach. There are no bars or restaurants, so bring plenty of water, some snacks and sun protection.
