The place in a few words
Located in Lazi on Siquijor Island, the Old Enchanted Balete Tree is a centuries-old tree surrounded by local legends. At its base, a natural spring feeds a pool of fish that nibble away dead skin from visitors’ feet. It's an outdoor fish spa that has become a small tourist attraction on the island.
What we loved
Let's be real: it's a bit of a tourist trap! But we had a good laugh. We stopped out of curiosity while exploring Siquijor and ended up with our feet in a pool, surrounded by fish of all sizes nibbling at our toes. It's a very strange feeling, especially when the bigger fish join in! We had a coffee and laughed our way through half an hour. Nothing extraordinary, just a fun, unexpected little break.
Our tip
Don't make a special trip just for this. But if you're passing by on a scooter, it's worth a 30-minute stop. Admission was 50 pesos per person when we visited. And if you're ticklish, be warned: it tickles a lot! Also, stay out of the pool if you have any cuts or open wounds on your feet.
