The place in a few words

On the island of Bohol, the floating restaurants on the Loboc River offer an unusual way to enjoy lunch: aboard a boat slowly cruising between palm trees and lush tropical vegetation. The concept is simple: an all-you-can-eat Filipino buffet combined with a river cruise lasting around an hour, usually featuring music and a short cultural performance along the way.

What we loved

To be honest, we went in with pretty low expectations. We imagined a very touristy attraction with a rather disappointing buffet. But we ended up being pleasantly surprised! Yes, it's definitely touristy, but the food was surprisingly good and we genuinely enjoyed the cruise. What we particularly loved was the incredibly green scenery, with palm trees lining the river and the feeling of cruising through vegetation so dense it almost seems to take over everything.

Our tip

Our tip is to board your assigned boat as early as possible. Cruises depart fairly regularly, but the best tables get taken quickly! Try to grab one right at the front: you'll have a much clearer view of the river while enjoying your meal, without other passengers blocking the scenery.
