General venue
A recommended place without a particular LGBTQ+ positioning.
The place in a few words
The Chocolate Hills are one of the most unusual landscapes on Bohol island in the Philippines. Hundreds of rounded hills stretch into the distance, turning brown during the dry season, which explains their name. The scenery immediately reminded us of the Teletubbies!
What we loved
What we loved most was discovering this place away from the crowds. Instead of heading to the famous tourist viewpoint, we climbed a nearby little hill and had it almost entirely to ourselves. The panorama was beautiful, and we could take our time enjoying this unusual scenery.
Our tip
We'd recommend skipping the paid Chocolate Hills Complex viewpoint. We found it crowded and rather underwhelming. Just 5–10 minutes away, we discovered a free alternative (https://maps.app.goo.gl/RNzBCPmhiLosaATE9?g_st=ac) with equally lovely views and far fewer people. Check that access is still permitted before climbing.
