The place in a few words

Located in Padre Burgos on Sogod Bay, Blue Deep Resort offers private bungalows, two swimming pools, a restaurant and a few sports facilities. It's a convenient base for exploring Southern Leyte, particularly if you're planning an excursion to see whale sharks.

What we loved

We booked this hotel without high expectations, mainly for our whale shark excursion. And we were genuinely pleasantly surprised! The photos really don't do it justice. Our bungalow was simple but perfectly adequate, and we especially enjoyed how peaceful the grounds were. The restaurant was another lovely surprise: we ate there several times and the food was consistently good. As a bonus, we stumbled upon a basketball court and a gym. We also had a chance to chat with the owner, who was lovely.

Our tip

The area is fairly remote, so we found it really convenient to eat at the hotel rather than look for restaurants elsewhere. If you have some downtime between excursions, make the most of the pools or simply sit back with a beer. No need to do much else!
