The place in a few words
On Panglao Island, southwest of Bohol, Alona Beach is one of the area's best-known beaches. With white sand, turquoise water and plenty of beachfront bars and restaurants, it's a lively place to swim, relax or head out for snorkeling and diving.
What we loved
We decided not to stay on Panglao, but we still wanted to explore the island and enjoy its beaches. So we spent a day there, using Alona Beach as our base. And it was really nice! We took our time, enjoyed the sea and soaked up the atmosphere at the little bars along the shore. It's definitely touristy, but for a relaxed day with no particular plans, it works perfectly well.
Our tip
Even if you're not staying on Panglao, we'd recommend spending a day there. And don't feel you have to stick to Alona Beach! The island has other beaches too, including White Beach near Libaong, the generally quieter Dumaluan Beach and Danao Beach, a short distance from Alona. It's worth exploring to find the spot that suits you best.
